Church of St. Margaret in Margečan
The first written mention of the parish church of St. Margaret is found in a record from the year 1431. The church has been renovated and redesigned many times throughout history. Its current appearance dates back to the 19th and 20th centuries.
The history of the parish of Margečan is more systematically recorded from the year 1638 when the Varaždin archdeacon Petar Oškoci visited the parish. It was then discovered that the church was built on the property of the Petheö family, with wooden altars, a choir loft, and a pulpit. The present church of St. Margaret, in Baroque architecture, was built in the 19th century.
The interior of the church is adorned with beautiful wooden altars, a pulpit, and organ in the historicist style from the 19th century. A memorial plaque dedicated by Metel Ožegović Barlabaševački to his father Stjepan is embedded on the southern wall of the sanctuary.
